Biography

Prof. Mario Barbagallo, MD, PhD is Professor of Geriatrics since 2000 and is currently Director of the Geriatric Unit, University Hospital of Palermo, and Director Post-graduate program in Geriatrics, University of Palermo, Italy. He is President of Chairman of the Clinical Section of IAGG-ER (International association of Geriatrics-European Region) 2015-2019. Born in Palermo, Italy, in 1959, where he obtained his medical degree 1983. In 1989 he obtained the PhD. He has worked in the 90's in the USA, first at the Cornell University Medical Center, New York, NY, USA, and later as a Fulbright Scholar and Visiting Professor at Wayne State University, Detroit, MI, USA. He is an expert of Cardiovascular and metabolic diseases and in general to problems related to the prevention and treatment of diseases associated with aging. He is member of numerous national and international scientific societies and appreciated speaker in Italy and abroad. He is author of about 500 publications in national and international scientific journals.
