Biography

He is graduated from the Uludag University School of Medicine in Bursa, Turkey in 1988. Afterwards, He underwent a four-year Clinical Chemistry residency (which is equal to a PhD of Biochemistry in the US) and has risen through the ranks of assistant professor, associate professor, and professor of Medical Biochemistry. He has spent 10 years at state universities in Turkey and 15 years at private universities at various positions in Turkey. He has taught more than 20 different courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels on various topics in biochemistry, molecular biology and clinical chemistry at the schools of medicine, dentistry, nursing and health science. He was the thesis advisor and educational counselor for many residency and PhD students. Building upon my experience, He has written some textbooks on topics including Medical Biochemistry, Clinical Chemistry, Analysis Methods in Clinical Chemistry, and Laboratory Instruments. He has written 42 grant proposals, of which 33 have been awarded, and conducted numerous research projects. At the beginning of my career, He has done some clinical trials, diagnosis and monitoring of diseases then focused on lipid metabolism, plasma lipids and atherosclerosis, and recently, He is working on lipid related cancer chemotherapy, drug discovery and delivery. He has written more than 100 publications. He decided to move to the US in 2014 and continue my academic endeavors here. First, he conducted some projects at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, the University of California, Davis. His research was mainly focused on the development of a new nano-formulation for selective cancer chemotherapy. He was uploading cholesterol or fatty acid metabolic pathway inhibitors, such as orlistat, avasimibe, and Soraphen A to the nanoparticles, a kind of polyethylene glycol and targeting them to the cancer cells, selectively. After He finished his projects, he moved to St. Cloud State University, in August 2017. Currently, he is working at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, St. Cloud State University.
