Biography

Ayman M. Okeil, Ph.D., P.E., is an associate professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Louisiana State University. He received his Ph.D. degree from North Carolina State University in 1995. Prior to joining LSU in 2003, he worked as an assistant professor at the University of Central Florida and Alexandria University. In recent years, his research interests focused on the use of composites for structural strengthening, structural reliability, and structural health monitoring. He has published over 50 papers in refereed journal and conference proceedings. He serves on the Editorial Board of ASCE J. of Composites for Construction and is active member of several committees (TRB Committee AFF80–Structural Fiber Reinforced Plastics, ACI Committee 440–Fiber Reinforced Polymer Reinforcement, and ACI-ASCE Committee 343–Concrete Bridge Design). He is the recipient of several awards (“Educator of the Year Award”–ASCE Baton Rouge Section, “Outstanding Teaching Award” –North Carolina State University, and “Outstanding Achievement Award” –Louisiana State University).
