    The emergence and spread of antibiotic resistance among pathogenic bacteria pose a significant threat to global public health. Understanding the molecular mechanisms behind antibiotic resistance is crucial for the development of effective strategies to combat this problem. This article provides an overview of the key molecular mechanisms employed by pathogenic bacteria to evade the effects of antibiotics. It discusses the role of genetic mutations, horizontal gene transfer, efflux pumps, target site modification and biofilm formation in antibiotic resistance.
