Assessment of Therapeutic Potential of Stigma Maydis (Cornsilk) on Metabolic Syndrome

Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) is a cluster of metabolic abnormalities including obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and insulin resistance, which significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes. Recent research has focused on natural remedies to mitigate these conditions, with Stigma Maydis (cornsilk) emerging as a potential therapeutic agent due to its bioactive compounds, such as flavonoids, alkaloids, and phenolic acids. This study aims to assess the therapeutic potential of Stigma Maydis in managing MetS. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature, we highlight its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and hypoglycemic properties that may help in reducing the components of MetS.
