    Renal-replacement therapy options should be made available to patients because of the high incidence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the expanding number of persons with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) worldwide. Clinical studies have demonstrated the many advantages of peritoneal dialysis (PD) as a home-based dialysis therapy.
