Biography

Professor Trisha Dunning AM is a Vice-President of the International Diabetes Federation 2013-2015, her second term on the IDF Board. She is the Chair in Nursing and Director of the Centre for Nursing and Allied Health Research at Deakin University and Barwon Health in Geelong, Australia, where she combines clinical care for people with diabetes, teaching and research.

She has been a diabetes nurse educator since 1984 and has served on many professional associations and committees including President of the Australian Diabetes Educators Association, The National Medicines Advisory Committee in Australia, and Human Research Ethics Committee of Deakin University and Barwon Health, She is a Board Member of Diabetes Australia Victoria.

Professor Dunning has published several books and over 100 papers about diabetes. She was made a Member of The Order of Australia for her long contribution to nursing, particularly diabetes nursing, in 2004 and a Distinguished Life Fellow of the Australian College of Nursing in 2011.
