Biography

 Mr. Robert J. Carpenter, also known as Bob, serves as the President of Boston Medical Investors, Inc. Mr. Carpenter serves as Chief Executive Officer of Rec, Inc. He serves as Managing Director of CMA. He is Founder of Lysosomal Therapeutics Inc., and serves as its Chairman. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of VacTex, Inc. from November 1995 to April 1998. He served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Peptimmune, Inc. From 1989 to 1991, Mr. Carpenter served as Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Genzyme Corporation. He served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of IG Laboratories, Inc., from 1989 to 1991 and its Executive Vice President until 1991. He co-founded GelTex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in November 1991. Mr. Carpenter served as President and Chief Executive Officer of GelTex Pharmaceuticals Inc., from 1991 to May 1993. From 1981 to 1989, Mr. Carpenter served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Integrated Genetics, Inc. He founded and lead several companies, such as VacTex Inc. and Integrated Genetics. From 1975 to 1980, Mr. Carpenter served in several positions for Baxter Travenol Laboratories ultimately attaining the position of President, Fenwal Division at Baxter International Inc. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Hydra Biosciences, Inc. from November 1991 to December 2000. He serves as Chairman of Immuneering Corporation. Mr. Carpenter served as Chairman of GelTex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since 1991. He serves as Chairman of Hydra Biosciences, Inc. He serves as Director of Good Start Genetics, Inc. and SynapDx Corporation. He serves as Director of Moderna Therapeutics, Inc. He served as Trustee of Immune Disease Institute, Inc. Mr. Carpenter served as a Director of Cardiac Science Inc. since August 2000 until his resignation on September 17, 2003. He served as a Director of Peptimmune, Inc. He served as a Director of Genzyme Oncology, Inc. since 1994 until 2011 and its Lead Director. He served as a Director of GelTex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since 1991. He served as a Director of Aquila Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. since 1998 and Genzyme Surgical Products. He served as a Director of Genzyme Tissue Repair, Genzyme General and Sanofi Biosurgery since 1994. Mr. Carpenter received a BS degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1967, an M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University in 1969, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1975.
