Dr. Romano has over 20 years of experience in HIV/AIDS research and development in both corporate and non-profit settings including the study of AIDS related pathology, vaccine development, diagnostic techniques, and HIV prevention product development. Over the past 10 years his focus has been on the development of microbicides and other HIV prevention products first at Biosyn Inc. and at the International Partnership for Microbicides (IPM). This work has included pre-clinical and clinical development, evaluation of products, development of novel delivery technologies, regulatory and quality management, product manufacture and late stage efficiency evaluations. Currently, he consults to multiple organizations involved in HIV prevention product development. Dr. Romano serves as a consultant to CAMI Health as Senior Scientific Advisor to the IMPT. He is also a member of the IMPT Steering Committee.
