Dr. José Joaquim Ribeiro da Rocha is a professor of surgery in the area of Coloproctology in Brazil, University of São Paulo, Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto. He has made research in diffuse peritonitis, intestinal anastomosis and transanal endoscopic operations. He has also been directing the Division of Coloproctology at the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto- University of São Paulo since 2004. He is editor of the book “Coloproctology - Principles and Practices”, edited by Atheneu publishing house, now in 2011 in its second edition. He earned his master and PhD degrees in surgery at the Department of Surgery and Anatomy of the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo – Brazil. He is also a coloproctology surgeon at the Hospital São Paulo Ribeirão Preto, State of São Paulo, Brazil.
