Biography
Joao Ernesto de Carvalho completed the PhD in Pharmacology from the Federal University of Sao Paulo in 1992 and a PhD in Pharmacology from the State University of Campinas, in 2012. He is currently professor and director of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the State University of Campinas. Performs research activities in the Division of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the Multidisciplinary Center for Chemical, Biological and Agricultural State University of Campinas. CNPq researcher 1C, Commissioner of Food with Functional and Health ANVISA.
Research Interest
Cell death; Micronuclei; Mitochondrial swelling; Oxidative stress, Orchid leaf extract caused swelling of isolated rat hepatic mitochondria, Mutagenic activity in erythrocytes was observed, Hepatic hyperemia, cytoplasmic vacuolization, pseudoeosinophilia and cell death, The effects could be attributed to flavonoids and tannins found in the crude extract.
