Dr. J Peter Figueroa is Professor of Public Health, Epidemiology and HIV/AIDS at the University of the West Indies, Kingston, Jamaica, where he has developed a doctorate program in public health. He was formerly the Chief Medical Officer at the Ministry of Health and for many years the Chief Epidemiologist and Director of the National HIV/STI Program in Jamaica and a Scientific Secretary of the Caribbean Health Research Council. He has represented the Government of Jamaica on regional and international health-related agencies and conducted consultancies in the Caribbean, Africa and the Middle East.
