Henrique Couto Teixeira

Biography

Dr. Henrique Couto Teixeira Graduated in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. MA and Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of São Paulo (USP, 1987 and 1991), a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Ulm, Germany (1991-1993) with Dr. Stefan Kaufmann. Prof. visitor at Leiden University Medical Center (2002) in the Lab. Participated in the creation of postgraduate courses in Biological Sciences (Immunology) and Health (both Masters and Doctorate in UFJF). The author was the founder and coordinator of the Specialization Course in Parasitology, Microbiology, and Immunology ICB-UFJF (2005-2012 - 5 courses, 99 trainees). 

Research Interest

 His main research interest: Immunology, tuberculosis, spleen, Thalidomide, Inflammation. It includes 1) Infections caused by intracellular microorganisms, especially tuberculosis and leprosy - evaluation of new antigens / immunodiagnostic; 2) autologous transplantation of spleen: focusing on the importance of preserving the spleen to infection control; 3) Study of new drugs: evaluation of analogues of thalidomide and study other drugs with anti-inflammatory activity
