Prof. Emiel DenHartog: He has a Masters’ degree in Experimental Physics from the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands and PhD in Medical Physics from the Erasmus University, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. After his PhD he went to work for TNO an independent contract research agency in The Netherlands for more than 15 years. Working in the Defense research branch he worked on evaluation and innovation of military protective clothing systems. He has studied human thermal physiology in a wide range of conditions, including the impact of protective clothing.
His main focus area of research is on human performance in protective clothing systems, determining performance measures and analyzing their impact on human physiology, psychology and ergonomics. He combines basic science concepts and new technologies into protective clothing systems. Also, he works on using and developing test and evaluation methods for functional textiles to demonstrate and quantify functionality and analyze and evaluate added values for products that people wear.
The vision of TPACC is to optimally combine material, manikin and human evaluations to assess and predict actual protection and comfort in the working environment.
