Elizabeth LaRue, PhD is an Assistant Professor at the School of Nursing, University of Pittsburgh. She teaches nursing informatics and conducts research in two areas. Her primary area of research is consumer health informatics; specifically health literacy and the second area is mHealth; particularly using mobile technologies to perform emotional state momentary assessments of individuals with depression. i.e. sending emotional state text message queries and support messages to individuals with depression. Dr. LaRue has managed several projects with patients and healthcare professionals accessing and utilizing health information. She has presented nationally and internationally at various symposiums/conferences focusing on Information Technologies; as well as authored several journal articles and book chapters on health literacy and consumer retrieval of Internet health information."
