Dieter Weingart is Chairman of the Department of Oral, Maxillo and Facial Plastic Surgery at Katharinenhospital in Stuttgart, Germany. He started as a dental technician and then studied medicine and dentistry at the Universities of Tübingen and Freiburg, Germany. He completed his PhD thesis in 1992. From 1992 until 1996 he worked as a professor and vice director at the University Hospital of Münster, Germany. Professor Weingart was the first winner of the André Schroeder Research Prize in 1992. He served on the ITI Development Committee and Education Core Group. He was the Chair of the ITI Section Germany until 2005, an ITI Board Member from 1997 until 2011 and ITI President from 2005 until 2009. In 2012, he was made an ITI Honorary Fellow.
