Hardy Maron and Derek Martin*

DOI: 10.37421/2161-0959.2023.13.449

Kidney transplantation is a well-established treatment option for individuals with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Middle-aged patients represent a significant proportion of kidney transplant recipients. This manuscript provides a comprehensive review of the current literature regarding kidney transplantation in middle-aged individuals, focusing on patient selection, surgical considerations, post-transplant care, and long-term outcomes. The aim is to provide clinicians and researchers with valuable insights into optimizing the outcomes of kidney transplantation in this specific population.

Classification of Renal Trauma and its Management: A Mini Review

Oliver Grend* and Jayan Morph

DOI: 10.37421/2161-0959.2023.13.441

The manufacture of illness by one person for the benefit of another is known as Munchausen syndrome via proxy. A survey of all Munchausen-byproxy cases indicated that 25% of the children had renal or urologic issues. Munchausen-by-proxy syndrome renal and urologic manifestations are not as prevalent as one may imagine. Although this illness can pose doctors with a challenging diagnostic challenge, being aware of it can help in the early discovery of falsification and lessen the physical and psychological harm to the victim. In this study, we performed a proxy analysis of Munchausen syndrome cases in paediatric nephrology, dividing them into groups based on the key presenting symptoms.

Comparing the Pros and Cons of Statins and Non-Statin Lipid-Lowering Agents for the Treatment of Carotid Artery Disease

Taylor C. Darwin* and Steve George

DOI: 10.37421/2161-0959.2023.13.443

Carotid artery disease is a condition characterized by the buildup of plaque in the carotid arteries, which are the blood vessels that supply oxygenated blood to the brain. This buildup can lead to the formation of blood clots, which can block the flow of blood to the brain and cause a stroke. Statins and non-statin lipid-lowering agents are commonly used to treat carotid artery disease by reducing cholesterol levels and preventing the buildup of plaque in the arteries. In this article, we will explore the pros and cons of these medications in the treatment of carotid artery disease.
