Exploring Extra-axial Cavernous Angioma: Insights into a Distinctive Vascular Lesion

Mariana Hughs*

DOI: 10.37421/2684-6012.2023.6.204

This study delves into the realm of extra-axial cavernous angiomas, offering comprehensive insights into the clinical characteristics, diagnostic challenges and management strategies associated with this distinctive vascular lesion. Utilizing a retrospective analysis of documented cases and a review of the existing literature, we aim to elucidate the unique features of extra-axial cavernous angiomas, contributing to the broader understanding of vascular lesions in neurosurgery. Our exploration encompasses key aspects such as radiological characteristics, histopathological findings and the implications of location on treatment outcomes. By shedding light on the distinctive nature of extra-axial cavernous angiomas, this study aspires to inform clinical decision-making and enhance the overall knowledge base surrounding these intriguing vascular anomalies.

Glycyrrhizae preparata: Halting Glioblastoma Growth Through Cell Cycle Arrest and Apoptosis Induction

Misti Tsai*

DOI: 10.37421/2684-6012.2023.6.205

This study explores the therapeutic potential of Glycyrrhizae preparata, a natural herbal extract derived from the root of G. glabra (licorice), in the context of Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM). The investigation focuses on the ability of G. preparata to induce cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in GBM cells, offering insights into its molecular mechanisms and potential implications for GBM treatment. Through a combination of in vitro experiments and molecular analyses, this study seeks to elucidate the specific pathways targeted by G. preparata, providing a foundation for its integration into the evolving landscape of GBM therapeutics.

Centro-median Thalamotomy: A Therapeutic Approach for Phantom Limb Pain

Linlin Tomar*

DOI: 10.37421/2684-6012.2023.6.206

Phantom Limb Pain (PLP) continues to present a challenging scenario for both patients and clinicians, necessitating novel approaches for effective relief. Centro-Median Thalamotomy, involving targeted lesioning of the Centro-Median Nucleus (CMN) within the thalamus, emerges as a potential therapeutic avenue. This study explores the feasibility and efficacy of Centro-Median Thalamotomy in mitigating PLP, drawing upon clinical observations and neurophysiological insights. Our findings contribute to the evolving discourse on neurosurgical interventions for chronic pain and may pave the way for tailored approaches in the management of Phantom Limb Pain.

Long-term Efficacy of Deep Brain Stimulation for Dystonia

Linlin Tomar*

DOI: 10.37421/2684-6012.2023.6.207

This study investigates the long-term efficacy of Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) in the management of dystonia, a debilitating neurological disorder characterized by involuntary muscle contractions. While numerous studies have demonstrated the short and intermediate-term benefits of DBS, the sustainability of therapeutic effects and the factors influencing long-term outcomes remain pivotal considerations. Through an extensive review of the literature, this research aims to delineate the enduring impact of DBS on dystonia symptoms, motor function and quality of life over extended periods. The exploration encompasses various target sites within the brain, patient-specific factors and emerging technologies that contribute to shaping the evolving landscape of DBS for dystonia. The findings aim to provide insights into optimizing treatment strategies and enhancing the long-term well-being of individuals grappling with this chronic neurological condition.
