Dora - Between a Freudian Oedipal Perspective and a Broader View

Abstract

Noga Levine Keini*

In this paper, I will address Freud's discovery of the power of interpretation in the healing of hysteria and neurosis in general. Dora (Ida Bauer) comes to Freud for treatment. I will describe Dora's path before treatment and the brief analysis she underwent with him. I will try to understand the hopes, longings, and desires that brought both Dora and Freud to analysis. I will review the pre-Oedipal perspective that has been written about the case and even try to deepen it.
