Abstract :

Introduction: Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer worldwide and need to develop more efficient methods for their treatment. Cyto-reductive surgery with HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intra-peritoneal Chemotherapy) represents an effective treatment option for colon cancer in advanced stages increasing the time of the patients survived. Patient & Method: In this paper, a 43 years old female case with progressive abdominal growth associated with abdominal pain, postprandial fullness and weight loss is presented. The patient had palpable tumor of 10Ã?Â?8 cm in right lower quadrant without any other pathological data on physical and biochemical examination. A tomography showed a 5.4 cm tumor located in sigmoid colon with heterogeneous appearance. In colonoscopy was observed that the tumor occupied 80% of the lumen. Sigmoidectomy with intestinal reconnection and mesenteric lymphadenectomy were performed. Results: The histo-pathological results showed a poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma with lymphovascular invasion and adenocarcinoma in lesser omentum, right parietal peritoneum, greater omentum and lymph node metastasis. Hyperthermicintraperitoneal chemotherapy was performed with and cisplatin 120 mg. The treatment was completed with six cycles of chemotherapy with capacitabine and oxaliplatin. After 4 years of surveillance the patient is without evidence of tumor activity.
