The degree of flexibility within labor markets is a significant determinant of whether new employment opportunities arise or if existing jobs become more precarious. One perspective suggests that a certain level of labor market flexibility can indeed foster job creation by reducing the costs associated with hiring and firing, thereby encouraging employers to expand their workforces. However, this same flexibility, when taken to an extreme, can result in unstable employment conditions and hinder the development of sustainable job growth. Finding an optimal balance that accounts for institutional contexts and sector-specific characteristics is therefore paramount [1].
