The very high frequency band (VHF) currently used for aeronautical communications is becoming congested, and future air-ground (A / G) communications will require much greater use of data communications. To meet future capacity needs in aeronautical communications, we are proposing two new approaches, one of which is an A / G communication network based on cognitive radio that provides dynamic spectrum access to aircraft to overcome the scarcity problem of spectrum in the VHF band. Another approach is to use a new spectrum in the ultra-high frequency (UHF) band to create a new A / G link. In this article, we propose and study the possibilities of developing a spectrum detection approach to detect the band inactive in the VHF spectrum and analyze possible interference between the future L-band digital aeronautical communication system & ;L-DACS &; and legacy aeronautical systems.
