Tracheobronchial aspergillosis is an unusual form of invasive aspergillosis characterized by non-invasive or only superficial invasive tracheobronchitis with a propensity for spread. We report a two year old boy who died suddenly from respiratory failure. Post mortem examination revealed a pseudomembrane covering the lining of the larynx, trachea and bronchial tree of both lungs. This pseudomembrane was mainly composed of hyphae of Aspergillus. There was necrotizing transmural bronchitis with fungal invasion in the narrow area of the peri-bronchial tissue and dissemination to the stomach and kidneys.
