According to available reports, approximately 105 journals, 38 conferences, 68 workshops are currently devoted exclusively to pulmonary hypertension and approximately 1,510,000 articles are published on current trends in pulmonary hypertension. In terms of annual research, the United States, Canada, Australia, India, Japan and China are some of the main countries where maximum research related to pulmonary hypertension is underway. Pulmonary hypertension is the disease in which the blood pressure in the pulmonary blood vessels increases, such as in the pulmonary arteries, pulmonary veins or pulmonary capillaries. It usually involves constriction or tightening of blood vessels, which makes it difficult to pump blood by heart. In severe cases, this can lead to heart failure. Treatment of pulmonary hypertension involves the use of vasoactive agents or catheters. Common symptoms include shortness of breath, fatigue, unproductive cough, angina, fainting or fainting, peripheral edema (swelling around the ankles and feet) and a rare cough. A 1973 meeting organized by the World Health Organization was the first to attempt to classify pulmonary hypertension.
