Sexually Transmitted Diseases Impact Factor

Transactional sex (TS) is usually defined because the trading (buying or selling) of sex for material benefit (i.e., exchanging money, drugs, food, shelter, or other items for sex). Various studies have reported increased prevalence of TS among men who roll in the hay with other men (MSM). Engagement in TS occurs along a spectrum of participation starting from casual, infrequent encounters, to continual professional exchange. Transactional sex between men frequently involves sodomy which, if unprotected, carries a high risk of transmission of sexually transmitted infections for the receptive partner, and a big risk for the insertive partner. Male-male sex is usually initiated during adolescent years and is extremely common within the repertoire of adolescent sexual experimentation, thus making them more susceptible to risky sexual behaviors and perpetrators are seen as key vectors for HIV transmission
