Pediatrics

Pediatrics is the medicine division which involves the treatment of infants , children and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests that people receive medical treatment before they are 21 years old. The variations in body size are paralleled by improvements in maturation. A child or neonate 's smaller body is physiologically greatly different from that of an adult. Congenital abnormalities, genetic variation and developmental disorders are more of interest to pediatricians than they are even to adult doctors. Pediatric physiology has a strong effect on the pharmacokinetic properties of drugs entering the body. The ingestion, delivery, processing and removal of medicinal products differ between growing children and grown adults. Following completed studies and evaluations, more work is required to better understand how such factors will impact health care providers' decisions while prescribing.
