Osteoporosis is a bone disease that occurs when the body loses too much bone or too little bone, or both. Osteoporosis means a “porous bone.” viewed under a microscope, healthy bone looks like a honeycomb. Osteoporosis-related fractures most commonly occur in the hip, wrist or spine.After the early 20s this process slows, and most people reach their peak bone mass by age 30.Too much thyroid hormone can cause bone loss this can occur if your thyroid .The risk of osteoporosis is higher in people who have certain medical problems.Bone fractures, particularly in the spine or hip, are the most serious complications of osteoporosis.Being underweight increases the chance of bone loss and fractures. Excess weight is now known to increase the risk of fractures in your arm and wrist.Exercise will benefit your bones no matter when you start exercising regularly when you're young and continue to exercise throughout your life.
