Materials chemistry was in its infancy when I started my independent research in India after returning from the United States in the late 1950s. I studied the phase transformations of TiO2https://www.conferenceseries.com/nanotechnology-meetings and CsCl, https://www.conferenceseries.com/nanotechnology-meetingsand I also performed fault calculations. Working on rare earth oxides, I made TbO2 and PrO2 by a simple solution route; it is probably one of the first examples of soft chemistry (soft chemistry). I started to work on transition metal oxides by building simple instruments, including a thermobalance and ovens. In 1987, we were able to fully characterize the first liquid N2 superconductor (YBa2Cu3O7) using an AC susceptometer built at home. Oxideshttps://www.conferenceseries.com/nanotechnology-meetings have interested me a lot because of the variety of phenomena they present. I have studied various aspects of transition metal oxides, including metal-insulator transitions, colossal magnetoresistance and multiferroids. The last two decades have included research on the synthesis, characterization and properties of various nanomaterials, and in particular two-dimensional nanosheets (graphene and its inorganic analogs). Two-dimensional sheets and other nanomaterials have been covalently crosslinked to derive new materials with new properties. Work on the separation of water and reduction of CO2, in addition to the substitution of aliovalent anions to generate new inorganics (Zn2NF instead of ZnO), were also carried out.
