LPL plays a pivotal role in lipids and lipoprotein metabolism. The main functions of LPL include the hydrolysis of TG-rich lipoproteins and the release of non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA), which are absorbed and used for metabolic energy in peripheral tissues such as muscles, or are re-esterified in the TG and stored in adipose tissue. The balance between these competing effects could determine whether the increase in LPL activity will lead to a decrease in weight gain or an increase in adiposity through increased rates of TG fat storage. An imbalance in LPL activity can alter the plasma TG partitions between muscle and adipose tissue, and therefore influence insulin resistance and obesity. These provide a high quality, meticulously edited and timely publication to meet the pressing needs of the scientific community. These journals are indexed with all their noted citations. The main open access journals are indexed in MEDLINE, PUBMED, SCOPUS, COPERNICUS, CAS, EBSCO and ISI.
