Lemongrass

Lemongrass is an herb native to Sri Lanka and South India, but which now grows in many countries around the world. The stems of the plant are a common ingredient in Asian cuisine, but it is also possible to prepare lemongrass to make tea. The plant has long leaves similar to those of seagrass beds. While there are around 55 species of lemongrass, only varieties from the East Indies and the West Indies are suitable for cooking. Several researchers are interested in the health benefits and medications of drinking lemongrass tea. In this article, we look at some of the health benefits this tea can offer and look at the evidence to support the claims.
