Hypertension is a major public health problem affecting more than 28-30% of adults and a major risk factor in the development of stroke, cardiovascular disease and chronic kidney disease. Patients with prehypertension also have an increased risk of adverse CV events compared to normotensive controls. The World Health Organization reports that up to 50% of adults in many countries have high blood pressure. The journal article is sometimes called a scientific article, a peer-reviewed article, or a scholarly research article. Together, journal articles in a particular area are often called literature. Journal articles are most often primary research articles. However, they can also be review articles. These types of items have different purposes and requirements. Without experience in the field, journal articles can be difficult to understand - however, you don't need to understand an entire article in order to gain valuable information.
