Hypertension is a major public health problem affecting more than 28-30% of adults and a major risk factor in the development of stroke, cardiovascular disease (CV) and chronic kidney disease. Patients with prehypertension [BP 130-130 / 80-89 mmHg] also have an increased risk of adverse CV events compared to normotensive controls. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that up to 50% of adults in many countries have high blood pressure. High impact journals are those that are considered very influential in their respective fields. The journal impact factor provides a quantitative evaluation tool for classifying, evaluating, sorting and comparing journals of a similar nature. It reflects the average number of citations of recent articles published in scientific and social science journals in a given year or period, and is frequently used as an indirect indicator of the relative importance of a journal in its field. It was first designed by Eugene Garfield, the founder of the Institute for Scientific Information. The impact factor of a journal is assessed by dividing the number of citations from the current year to source articles published in that journal in the previous two years.
