It is an electronic medical device that exchanges the function of the damaged inner ear. Other than hearing aids, which make sounds louder, cochlear implants evade the damaged hair cells of the inner ear (cochlea) to produce sound signals to the brain. Hearing aids are treated with medical devices and are organized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Normal small audio amplifiers or other plain sound reinforcing systems cannot be sold as "hearing aids". Previous devices, known as ear horns or ear trumpets, were passive funnel-like amplification cones designed to gather sound energy and direct it into the ear canal. complementary devices include the bone-anchored hearing aid and cochlear implant
