Central obesity is an excessive accumulation of visceral adipose tissue. This is often correlated with IR. Central obesity can be more detrimental to good glucose metabolism since overweight or even obese people with proportional body fat do not always show signs of IR, while in some cases normal weight individuals with excessive visceral adiposity can display IR. The Journal of Metabolic Syndrome focuses on cutting-edge research in the prevention, pharmacological treatment, management and education of obesity and related disorders.High impact journals are those that are considered very influential in their respective fields.
