Central obesity is an excessive accumulation of visceral adipose tissue. This is often correlated with IR. Central obesity can be more detrimental to good glucose metabolism since overweight or even obese people with proportional body fat do not always show signs of IR, while in some cases normal weight individuals with excessive visceral adiposity can display IR. The Journal of Metabolic Syndrome focuses on cutting-edge research in the prevention, pharmacological treatment, management and education of obesity and related disorders.High impact journals are those that are considered very influential in their respective fields. Peer review refers to the work carried out during the pre-selection of submitted manuscripts and funding requests. This process encourages authors to adhere to accepted standards of their discipline and reduces the dissemination of irrelevant results, unjustified claims, unacceptable interpretations and personal opinions. Publications that have not been peer reviewed are likely to be viewed with suspicion by academics and professionals
