A biosafety level is a set of bio-containment precautions required which is used to identify dangerous biological agents. There are four biosafety levels and each level have a specific controls for containment of microbes and biological agents. The primary risks that determine levels of containment are severity of disease, infectivity, transmissibility and the nature of the work conducted.
