Atherosclerotic lesion is a continuous disease define by the accumulation of lipids and fibrous elements in the large arteries. The atherosclerosis include of subendothelial accumulations of cholesterol-engorged macrophages, called 'foam cells'. The build-up of fats, cholesterol and other substances in and on the artery walls.A develop of cholesterol plaque in the walls of arteries, causing obstruction of blood flow. Plaques may rupture, create acute occlusion of the artery by clot.Atherosclerosis often has no symptoms until a plaque ruptures or the build-up is severe enough to block blood flow.A healthy diet and exercise can help.
