Articles On Ichthyosis Vulgaris

Ichthyosis vulgaris is provoke  by mutations in the loss of function of the filaggrin gene (FLG) and is characterized clinically by xerosis, flaking, keratosis pilaris, palmar and plantar hyperlinearity and a strong association with atopic disorders. According to the published studies presented in this review article, FLG mutations are seen in approximately 7.7% of Europeans and 3.0% of Asians, but appear to be uncommon in dark-skinned populations. This clinical review article provides an overview of the epidemiology of common ichthyosis, associated disorders and pathologicalhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6317863/ mechanisms. Not only does ichthyosis vulgus have a broad impersonal  spectrum, but new studies suggest that carriers of FLG mutations may have a generally altered risk of developing common diseases, even beyond atopic disorders. Mechanistic studies have shown increased penetration of irritant  and chemicals into filaggrin deficient skin, and epidemiological studies have found higher levels of hand eczema, irritant contact dermatitis, nickel sensitization and levels vitamin D serum levels. If appropriate, individuals should be informed of an increased risk of developing dermatitis when they are repeatedly or continuously exposed to nickel or irritants. In addition, with our current knowledge, people with ichthyosis vulgaris https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6317863/should be protected from neonatal exposure to cats to prevent atopic dermatitis and should refrain from smoking to prevent asthma.https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6317863/ Finally, they should be advised against excessive exposure to factors that decrease the skin barrier functions and increase the risk of atopic dermatitis.
