Vascular disease is any abnormality of the blood vessels. Measurement of gas (NO) or an appropriate index marker like nitrite could potentially be utilized in the diagnosis of varied vascular diseases. Among its many functions, gas plays important roles in ischemia/reperfusion injury. Nitrite has recently been found to get gas under conditions of ischemia or hypoxia. Research into the biology of the nitrite anion may impact a good range of vascular diseases, like stroke, acute myocardial infarct , asystole , sepsis, or other diseases. As nitrite begins to be evaluated for its therapeutic impact on these diseases in clinical trials, it's going to be important to get frequent or continuous measurements of NO or nitrite levels in real time so as to optimize such therapies. In addition, if nitrite therapy becomes successful in these trials, it's going to become necessary to supply clinicians with tools to watch the effect of such therapy in real time.
