Professor Braga has a DVM degree from Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro – Brazil in 2002 and a PhD degree in Physiology from University of São Paulo – Brazil in 2006. Dr. Braga has done his postdoctoral training at Cornell University – United States in 2007 and worked as Assistant Professor at the Department of Medicine in the University of Chicago in 2008.Nowadays, he is the Director and Professor of the Biotechnology Center of the Federal University of Paraiba. Dr. Braga has published over 37 articles on neural control of circulation,autonomic function and hypertension. He has been acting as reviewer for 13 international journals including but not limited to Hypertension, Journal of Applied Physiology, Stress, European Journal of Neuroscience and Brain Research. He has also been a member of the Editorial board of the American Journal of Neuroscience. Among his research interest are hypertension and reactive oxygen species.
My research is devoted to unravel the mechanisms underlying the neurogenic hypertension. Understanding how reactive oxygen species affects brain areas involved in cardiovascular control resulting in hypertension is of particular interest.
