Journal of Cancer Science & Therapy is pleased to announce Special issue on the topic “Cancer history: A severe risk factor in Covid-19 patients”.
With the available global data on spread of corona virus and mortality rate in Covid-19 patients, there has been an increased risk in expression of the symptoms and mortality in patients with cancer history or patients undergoing cancer treatment. The incidence of COVID-19 in patients with cancer would be more informative in assessing whether or not patients with cancer have an increased risk of COVID-19. Additionally, there are reports that patients with cancer were prone to severe events (admission to the intensive care unit requiring invasive ventilation, or death) from COVID-19. Evidence indicates that overwhelming inflammation and cytokine-associated lung injury could be important in instigating these severe events in patients with COVID-19.
