Tousch Didier Assistant Professor Faculty of Sciences Montpellier University

Biography

He have successfully completed his Administrative responsibilities as Director of the IUP B3 (Biodection, Bio-safety and Bio-tack from 2000 to 2006, co-Director of GINGKO SFERE, an society founded in 2009 and Director of the Master Dtec-Bio from 2013 in Montpellier 2 University.
His research has included : from 1991 to 1999 in the Laboratory of Plant Molecular Physiology ENSAM -. INRA Montpellier, his work on the plant adaptation to water stress by research the genes involved. He has demonstrated the involvement of aquaporins, tonoplast intrinsic proteins (TIP) in sunflower during a water stress. In 2000, Didier Tousch is interested at the metabolomic in higher plants with the aim to purifying active compounds for the treatment of diabetes. In 2001, he joined the team of the Center of Pharmacology and Innovation in Diabetes of the Montpellier 1 University where he is responsible of "Bioresource and Biomolecules" program that consist to build a library of natural extracts from a collection of plants known for their antidiabetic virtue in order to realize a functional screening on cultured cells. He demonstrates the antihyperglycemic effect of the chicoric acid and compares this effect to those of ferulic acid and caffeic acid, another two members of the cinnamic acid derivatives. Today, he tries to show that an potential targets for the Chicoric acid is the glucose 6-phosphatase in particular in the hepatic cell.
