We investigate the association of avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP) with Crohn’s disease and Type I Diabetes based on molecular mimicry, Diagnosis: we developed nested PCR assay and have identified biomarkers to predict the presence of MAP in clinical samples.Pathogenesis: We are investigating MAP role in Crohn’s and Type I Diabetes in association with single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in disease-specific genes.
