Biography
Dr. Ortega's research studies public nutrition from a comprehensive perspective. In this context, the study of diet as a practice derived from different food systems, and therefore environmental concepts, is its main focus. His most recent experiences involve the study of sociocultural, economic and demographic variables associated with dietary risk in migrant populations. In collaboration with researchers from CIAD's Directorate for Regional Development, he has explored the effect of changes in rural production patterns and rural-urban migration on the nutritional status of the population
