Dr John Abisheganaden studied medicine at the National University of Singapore and graduated MBBS in 1989.He pursued advanced Specialist Training in Respiratory Medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), where he is currently now a Senior Consultant Respiratory Physician.
He is active as a clinician, teacher and researcher, with special interests in obstructive airway disease, obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and Respiratory Disease management, and he has many publications both in local and international journals. He has also co-authored several book chapters on clinical asthma. He spent a year on scholarship, training at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in 1998.
He is currently active in the Singapore medical community, being the Ex-Chairman of the Chapter of Respiratory Physicians (College of Physicians, Academy of Medicine, 2009-2012), an ex-president of the Singapore Thoracic Society (2002-3), a Clinical Associate Professor for the National University of Singapore, and a reviewer for both local and international medical journals.
He is the current Head of the Respiratory and Critical Care Department at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Clinical Director of the Case Management Department, and Chairman of the Respiratory Disease Management Workgroup for the National Healthcare Group (NHG) in Singapore and he is involved in developing and implementing respiratory programs, initiatives and the promotion of evidence-based medicine for the National Healthcare Group.
