Dr. Iyad Sultan joined KHCC in 2005, shortly after finishing his fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. He served as a consultant in the solid tumors service and then the head of the service. In February 2011, he was assigned as the Chairman of the Department ofPediatrics.
Dr. Sultan obtained his MD Degree from the University of Jordan in 1996. He pursued pediatricresidency at State University of New York and finished his Pediatric Residency in 2001. He served one extra year as a chief resident. He then joined the pediatric hematology oncology program at Medical University of South Carolina. He was certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Pediatric Hematology Oncology.
Dr. Sultan is interested in solid tumors, particularly neuroblastoma and bone sarcomas. He continues to serve as the head of the Solid Tumors service. He successfully established a multidisciplinary clinic in solid tumors and joined the combined sarcoma multidisciplinary clinic. He is also a member of the ocular oncology program and helped in establishing the retinoblastoma service at KHCC.
Recently, Dr. Sultan established with colleagues in Jordan the National Pediatric hematologyOncology Taskforce which aims at unifying treatment protocols in Jordan.
