Dr Beaney has done junior house jobs in the UK and abroad, and undertook did his oncology training at the Hammersmith Hospital in London. He was senior lecturer and honorary consultant at the University of Birmingham (Department of Immunology) before returning to St Thomas' as a consultant oncologist. He has worked on several working parties dealing with oncology services in the UK and is currently a member of the EORTC brain tumour group.
