Epigenetics role in cancer with considerations for regulatory reform

Jorma A Jyrkkanen

Transcriptional variability is necessary for normal gene expression but it is also a liability when the gene profiles generated are cancer profiles. This is true for DNA transcription as well as RNA translation. Methylation can interfere with transcription and alter micro RNA translation or cleave RNA.

Harnessing benefit from targeting tumor associated carbohydrate antigens

Thomas Kieber-Emmons

Integrating additive or synergistic antitumor effects that focus on distinct elements of tumor biology are the most rational of strategies for cancer treatment.

Comparison of different approaches for quantitative N-, O-linked glycan and monosaccharide composition analysis in biopharmaceutical production

Iva Turyan

Glycosylation of therapeutic recombinant proteins is of importance due to its potential impact on solubility, bioactivity, pharmacokinetics and immunogenicity of glycoprotein pharmaceuticals.

Chemokine-glycosaminoglycan interactions and neutrophil recruitment: Simple and yet so complex

Krishna Rajarathnam

Circulating neutrophils, rapidly recruited in response to microbial infection and injury, form the first line in host defense, and a dysregulation in this process has been implicated in several diseases including sepsis and COPD.

Modification of silicone surfaces with carbohydrates to promote formation of nonpathogenic biofilms against pathogenic colonization

Chengzhi Cai

Device-associated infections, such as catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI), are due to formation of pathogenic biofilms on the devices.
