A significant number of deceases, 16 million unnecessary days of hospital stay and large amounts of spending is caused by HealthcareAssociated Infections (HCAI), according to the World Health Organization (WHO) [1]. Major effort has been put into improving hand hygiene standards for healthcare providers (HCP) to manage hospital internal sources of contamination. In recent years strains such as Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) present an increasingly hard challenge to hospital hygiene because their spread cannot be reliably prevented by antibiotics.
