Special Issue: Spinal Cord Injury & Rehabilitation

Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) treatment and rehabilitation focuses mainly on intensively working with patients who are physically and psychologically. Treating a person with a spinal cord injury, repairing the damage created by injury is the goal to the physicians. With this rehabilitation patient they can maximize their neurological recovery and general health in a short period of time.

There are several levels and methods are involved in this treatment. They are

  1. Acute recovery
  • Respiration
  • Functional electrical stimulation
  • Improving locomotor function
  • Provision
  1. Post-discharge rehabilitation therapy
  • Functional independence
  • Assistive devices
  1. Gait training

By using these varieties of treatments, greater improvements are attained, and, therefore, treatment should not be limited to one method.
